Closer Look

  • A lot of trees in this park still show damage from the 2019 wind storm.

  • There are lots of older White Oaks here, but no young ones.  How will this change the park over the next century?

  • Can you see the difference in species between the older and younger trees?  Newer trees were selected to increase diversity.

These trees return $7,083 in benefits each year!

In one year, these trees:

  • Capture air pollution:

    • 263 oz Carbon Monoxide

    • 3,045 oz Ozone

    • 186 oz Nitrogen Dioxide

    • 98 oz Sulfur Dioxide

    • 183 oz Particulate Matter

  • Intercept and slow down 423,500 gallons of rainwater

  • Redirect 85,900 gallons of rain back into the ground

Together, the City Park trees have sequestered over 2.88 million pounds of CO2 in their wood!
